Getting ready for the show

Went to the park yesterday to dicuss preparations for my one night exhibition to be held on Monday October 24 from 6.30. I arrived about half an hour early for the meeting in the cafe so wandered into the Mediterranean garden to do this quick sketch of the ravishing autumn colours which were so intense…

Cafe Exhibition

On Monday 24th I will be showing my work for the Park in the Cafe there. It’s not an easy venue to mount an exhibition but I’ll do my best to put on a good show. If you are around that evening from 6.30 it would be great to see you as well as my invited…

Playing with pastels

I have recently bought a new  muli-media A3 sketch pad which is a soft brown colour and so far I like  it very much. I have been trying out pastels and today I did three quick studies in the park. Here they are along with  one I did earlier this week.

A sketch with friends

A friend of mine has started a sketching group in Hotham Park and as I am artist for the park I have joined in. There is no tuition just the pleasure of a bunch of people being together doing the same thing. Then there is the excellent coffee in the cafe when we’ve had enough,or…

The Hotham Gravel Garden Stage 1

I’ve started work on a new painting which is on an 80×80 cm Jute canvas. The gravel garden with its water features is a new addition to the landscaping in Hotham Park. The planting is dramatic with a huge leaved plant in one corner and many strappy reed like plants. The colour of the gravel…
