Today is the day…

Today is the day I will, for one night only, be exhibiting my  park paintings in the Hotham Park Cafe. It’s going to be a bit of a scramble to do it all in one and a half hours but as much forward prep has been done as  possible and I will be posting some…

Boris

There is a little train that runs in Hotham Park in the summer and half term holidays. He is named Boris and children love him. I’m told his name is derived not from a certain blond desheveled politician but from a condensed version of the town’s name, Bognor Regis. The name is the result of…

Getting ready for the show

Went to the park yesterday to dicuss preparations for my one night exhibition to be held on Monday October 24 from 6.30. I arrived about half an hour early for the meeting in the cafe so wandered into the Mediterranean garden to do this quick sketch of the ravishing autumn colours which were so intense…

Cafe Exhibition

On Monday 24th I will be showing my work for the Park in the Cafe there. It’s not an easy venue to mount an exhibition but I’ll do my best to put on a good show. If you are around that evening from 6.30 it would be great to see you as well as my invited…

Autumn daze

I went to the park today armed with a new drawing pad and pastels. I will post the sketch I did another time but the stars of today’s show were definitely these teasels and  Michaelmas daisies. The sun was warm and the Park seemed in a daze, or was it me? ?

Gravel garden

Earlier I posted a photo of this in progress and here is the finished version. The canvas is jute and working on it has been a delightful experience as it won’t allow one to get too fiddly. The gravel garden was created  last year and the landscaping is coming on nicely.

Back to monoprinting

I was asked to run a monoprint workshop for the Southdowns Folk Festival taking place in Bognor  town centre. The only real connection with the Park is that the festival was hosted there last year.  In preparation and to get my hand back in I had another go at reeds inspired by the wildlife pond…

Sketching again…

Make sketch while the sun shines! So I headed to the Park for a meeting  in the cafe  but took my trusty pencils and book along to use after. Very hot, but thats not a complaint, I love it. I’m not sure the Park does though as eveything is looking a bit tired and in…
