April 15. Spent the afternoon trying out my new set of oil pastels in the park. Working with a comparatively new medium is always a challenge but the result of my efforts did rather resemble a dogs dinner. Never mind I will try again and maybe even try to recycle the costly piece of oil pastel paper I messed up.It is such a dilemma, one needs to be free to experiment but it would be great if one could do it without taking out a mortgage for materials; but sketching is never a waste of time as there is so much visual information stored even if the results are iffy. The next day I went sketching again but this time took my trusty pencils!
