Late Summer and early Autunm brings out a tangle of seed heads in the wild areas of the parK which I find hard to resist. I take reference photos but I like to draw too as this keeps the memory much more powerfully than if I just snapped the shot. Others may not be able to make head or tail of my scribbles but for me they evoke the scene vividly. The sun on my back as I sit on my little stool, the buzzing insects, the tangle of foliage all come back to me when I see the sketch.
